The United Nations recently released a report called “The Human Cost of Weather Related Disasters” that covers weather related disasters taking data from 1995-2015. The report shows that there was an average of 335 weather related disasters annually between 2005 and August 2015. This number (almost 1 disaster per day) is up 14% from 1995-2004. More impressively, this is almost twice as many disasters per year during the 1985-1994 period. It appears that not only are disasters increasing, but they are increasing exponentially. There should be no greater time or motivator to increase your preparedness knowledge, or your ready your emergency kit. Below are 5 figures from the report that show various aspects of their data.
